We Finished Shingling

In the interest of saving our sanity, we decided to rent a lift in order to finally finish shingling. We finished this project about a week and a half ago but I am just now getting around to blogging about it.

Let me tell you, this is a project I won't miss. By the by, shingling from the lift greatly improved our shingling speed. A big thanks to my Dad for helping us put the shingles on our roof. He is a apparently a glutton for punishment.

  1. I have just found your blog and am reading thru from the start now as I to am planning to begin construction of a slipform stone house in Blakeslee, PA. I will try to read the entire blog and send any questions at the end, but i must say your house is beautiful and the work looks quite impressive. Could you tell me what the dimensions of the house are?

  2. Definitely let me know if you have any questions. I have had email contact with a few slipformers since I started this venture. Some with experience, some of them just getting started.

Our house measures 32'x22' on the outside. The bump out on the front sticks out 3'. We are planning for an addition on the west side of our house when we need it.

Again, I would definitely be interested in keeping contact with people who are interested in slipform stone masonry. Best of luck!

  3. You have a very gorgeous house. How far along are you in building it? Moving to the countryside is a big decision. I hope you are enjoying your stay in your new home.

  4. There would have been loads of manual labor to exert if you guys did not rent that lift! Hehehehe. The roof looks great. You can truly never go wrong with gray shingles. The house looks stunning. Great job you guys. :)

  5. Beautiful! You’re right, Santo. Gray shingles’ neutral color is just calming to the sight. Just a friendly reminder: keep the debris off your roof because if it’s been neglected for a long time, it can turn the roof’s color from gray to murky black.

  6. Indeed, Santo! I think the gray roof seems to stand out. It was a bit different from nature colors that are all over your surroundings. Nice choice of color. Good job to the homeowners!
